Eye lounge is a collective, artist-run, contemporary art space committed to fostering emerging and established visual artists in downtown Phoenix. The collective was founded in 1999 and has hosted group exhibitions at the Ice House and Mesa Contemporary Arts. eye lounge moved to its permanent location in December, 2001 and has been featured in local and national press including Sunset Magazine, Art In America, ArtNews, Phoenix New Times, Shade Magazine, Java and others.
Along with other neighboring galleries including Modified Arts, MonOrchid, 515 and Perihelion, eye lounge has been listed as part of the “Best Underground Art Scene” by The Arizona Republic. eye lounge participates as a shuttle stop for Artlink First Fridays and is a founding member of Roosevelt Row. Along with other galleries, restaurants and retail businesses, eye lounge offers events throughout the month. Three new exhibits by leading Arizona artists open every month at eye lounge. Since its opening in 2001, eye lounge has supported and participated in the monthly First Friday artwalk organized by Artlink, Inc. The event has grown over that time from a few dozen participants to attracting thousands of regular attendees from Arizona and visitors from throughout the United States.
Every Third Friday of the month, eye lounge, along with other Roosevelt Row galleries offers intimate receptions for the exhibiting artists. Enjoy a relaxed casual environment, light refreshments and conversations with artists and other friends.
